Dr. Rodney Gay received his PhD in mechanical engineering from Stanford University in 1974. He has thirty years experience in modeling and monitoring the performance of electric power plants. His book, “Power Plant Performance Monitoring”, summarizes his nearly fifteen years in developing and installing on-line performance monitoring systems.
Dr. Gay founded the power plant modeling company Enter Software, Inc. in 1987. Dr. Gay managed the development of the GateCycle™ heat balance code, and the EfficiencyMap™ performance monitoring system, which has been installed at over one hundred power plants. He served as president of this organization until 1999 when the company was purchased by the General Electric Co. Dr. Gay remained president of GE Enter Software for two years, and then left GE to become an author and engineering consultant.
